Happy Chinese New Year!

Posted by Deborah Langley on Friday, February 16, 2018, In : halls for hire

Today marks the start of the Luna Festival or Chinese New Year and the Year of the Dog. I thought this would be the perfect day to send out our latest newsletter.

Being involved with community halls and venues allows me to get a glimpse into many different cultures and I personally love that we live in a place that we all get to choose which celebrations we want to be involved in and which we choose not to.

For me, a new year celebration (regardless of the calendar) allows me reflect on my life...

How many people can fit in your room?

Posted by Deborah Langley on Friday, July 7, 2017, In : halls for hire

Hope you have had a wonderful winter so far. It was lovely to get away from the Melbourne cold for a few weeks to visit some beautiful halls in sunny North Queensland but we are now back at www.hallsforhire.com.au HQ, ready for action again!

This month we had one of our members asking about how they work out numbers for their hall.

”We get that question a lot and it’s a tricky one. After all, are they sitting down around tables, are they using all the chairs theatre style? Is it for yoga wi...

Celebrate Life's Milestones with Your Unique Style

Posted by Deborah Langley on Friday, September 2, 2016, In : halls for hire

Life is full of milestones, big and small, that deserve celebration. Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and graduations are all times when you want to pause for a moment and truly celebrate.

But anyone who has ever planned a big event knows that the organisation can get more than a little stressful. You start with a simple concept, but the guest list grows, dietary requirements make your menus more complex, and you start to wonder where everyone is going to sit. Instead of celebrating your mil...

What a difference some details can make!

Posted by Deborah Langley on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, In : halls for hire

What a crazy month it has been down here at www.hallsforhire.com.au HQ

Firstly, on a very personal note; I welcomed the arrival of my first child into the world on the 26.6.2016, little baby Charlotte (named after my 94 year old grandmother who is a constant inspiration).

This means that I’ll be a little quiet for a few weeks while we adjust to life with a baby but we still have people in the background doing some amazing things to increase the traffic to our website, make sure we stay at...

Hope you have had an amazing month enjoying some time off with school holidays and Easter breaks. As always here at www.hallsforhire.com.au we have been busy getting your venues noticed, working on web updates and fixing bugs as they come up (which they always do with the internet changing so quickly!!)

With things changing in cyber space we thought it would be a great time to talk about changing the way we look at marketing our venues. So this month we are talking about all things marketing...

Lessons from Top Venue Managers

Posted by Deborah Langley on Thursday, March 3, 2016, In : halls for hire

Here at www.hallsforhire.com.au we know that for many of you being a venue manager (managing venue bookings) is just one part of your role. We know that many of you are volunteers working just a few hours a week on this role, while others are just about the only person running you’re entire organisation! There are lots of reasons why managing bookings and inquiries can sometimes falls low on the priority list.

So we thought we would look at some tips from Top Venue Managers around the world ...

Can you safely hire your venue for teen or large events?

Posted by Deborah Langley on Thursday, November 5, 2015, In : halls for hire

This month I have been asked about insurance, how to deal with hirers that don’t have it and how to make sure all events are insured adequately. I’ve put this question out to social media and a few insurance brokers that I know and will talk about all things insurance next month. If you have any ideas that you would like to share on insurance matters, please email me and I will include your comments with a link to your listing on social media and in our next newsletter.

The other question ...

How to find and keep good volunteers

Posted by Deborah Langley on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, In : halls for hire

As promised this month I want to talk about volunteers. Volunteers carry out almost 80% of the administration functions within the sport and recreation sector, probably more within worship groups, making volunteers an integral part of the success of ANY community organisation.

WHY DO WE NEED VOLUNTEERS?

Volunteers offer a fresh perspective with new ideas on how clubs operate and function, new skills, abilities, energy and enthusiasm. It is with their help that we are able to sustain clubs a...

We here at Eventism are pretty proud of the new look at feel for www.hallsforhire.com.au

With over 300 halls listed and a massive 15,000 hits per month, now that the crazy summer festival period is over, we are ready to spend some time getting more halls listed and even more hits for ou...

Who will use Halls for Hire?

Posted by Deborah Langley on Thursday, June 9, 2011, In : halls for hire
Halls for Hire, the website has now been open for venues in Victoria for a week. And I often ask, what sort of venues are going to get really excited about using a site like this... churches, scout groups, council run halls, community centres.... there are so many great venues out there that don't have a voice. Very soon we will open up the website to NSW, and then QLD and the rest of Australia before pressing activate on our search functionality and opening up the website for uses to search....

Venue Finding - Halls for Hire

Posted by Deborah Langley on Friday, April 15, 2011, In : Event News
Things don’t really start taking shape until you book and confirm the venue for your event. Although this is the obvious starting point, it is not always the easiest of decisions to make, especially here in Australia where we are spoiled for choice with some amazing venues. We have venues that inspire themes, intimacy, romance, productivity and many blank canvases to do with what we choose! We have venue spaces that cater specifically for small intimate gatherings of 10 to 60 people right u...
