Happy New Year!

I’m sure, like many of us, you are in full swing again for 2018 and the holidays (if you got any) seem like a distant memory. If you are lucky enough to be on holidays now or STILL! Good on you! And I hope you are having a wonderful time. If you are back to work like us, I hope you are planning for a wonder 2018 full of exciting new developments and opportunities.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to answer our question last year, which was – Do you find your smaller rooms get booked more than larger spaces?

Your answers where nothing short of varied! I think we can all agree that having a number of different sized spaces is a great advantage to any venue and that different people need different things.

Yani Webber from Moreton Bay Regional Council said “What we do know is that the smaller rooms / spaces are in high demand at some of our bigger / more modern facilities.”

With a very different story coming from Carol at North Ryde Community Church Hall, she reflected that their larger spaceis the most requested for dance classes (long term bookings) and birthday parties (one off’s). We are always getting requests for the use of the Hall after school hours and evenings – unfortunately there are insufficient days to accommodate all enquiries.

Even our two most popular listings (this month) tell different tales!

The Community Place  have both a smaller and larger space while Cardodo Creations have 2 large spaces only.

So no two venues are the same when it comes to people favouring smaller verses larger spaces but we did find this interesting, Graeme from The Albury Masonic Centre highlighted that although they don’t see a difference between smaller and larger space requests, they have “actually lost some bookings because we do not have a stage.”

Thank you so much for contributing with your experiences and I’m sure this won’t be the end of the investigation for council.

As always, if there is something you would like us to look into for you, or discuss, please drop me a line at deb@hallsforhire.com.au and we will do our best to answer all your questions!

Till next month
