Here in Melbourne the start of June always looks cold and miserable and is a dreary reminder that the end of the financial year is getting close! Here at www.hallsforhire.com.au we would like to give you some tips and tricks to help balance the books this EOFY and have relied on some of our members to help out with this information

The secretary of Woombye School of Arts Hall wanted to share with all our members about a new insurance company she has found. They have been struggling to find an insurance company that will insure their one-off casual hirers and get more bookings in. “We've consulted several insurance brokers and none have come back with any offers let alone one like this. Our new insurance policies are through: Local Community Insurance Services.

This group provide Casual Hirers Insurance, to cover Public Liability Insurance for individuals that hire the hall on a casual ad-hoc basis. Please note insurance does not cover incorporated groups, sporting clubs or associations of any kind and also does not include any profit making or commercial activities. Only down side is we needed to have all our insurance package with them to have them provide the Casual Hirers Insurance. Feel free to follow this up if you want.”

LCIS are located in Adelaide but provide services Australia wide.

For our Victorian members we have been told about a new community grants initiative, with $30 million available to fund local projects. Just come up with a project idea, get people to vote for you and make your community centre an even better place than it already it!

You only have until Sunday 24 June 2018 to get your applications in – so you better be quick! Voting opens in July!

Victorian members – check out the guidelines here - https://www.pickmyproject.vic.gov.au/
